More about dave

Dave Stefanchuk is a distinguished construction management professional, boasting over 40 years of extensive experience overseeing large-scale projects with budgets surpassing $600 million. His leadership has guided teams of up to 100 employees and multiple contractors in mechanical, industrial, commercial, and residential developments. After years of successful entrepreneurship in running his own company, Dave ventured into the corporate realm, particularly into mechanical construction—a new field for him. However, this transition only paved the way for further achievements, as he quickly ascended to the role of Director of Construction Management, overseeing top-tier projects.

Among his noteworthy contributions is his role in the UBC Tall Wood Residence project, an ambitious $51.5 million undertaking aimed at constructing an 18-story student residential tower made entirely of wood. At 53 meters tall, it surpasses the Forte Tower in Melbourne, Australia, to become the world’s tallest wood residential building at the time. As the Senior Project Manager for Mechanical Construction, Dave played a pivotal role in this landmark project, demonstrating his exceptional skills and commitment to excellence. His efforts, alongside a select team of professionals, were instrumental in bringing this innovative and environmentally sustainable structure to fruition.

Dave’s dedication and work ethic extend beyond his professional achievements. He has also made his mark in the world of sports, competing in outrigger canoe racing internationally for over 30 years, following a successful stint in downhill skiing. Dave’s journey is a testament to his relentless pursuit of excellence, leadership, and innovation in both his professional endeavors and personal passions. Proudly, he was also part of the team that won the 2018 VRCA Silver Award, a recognition that further underscores his exceptional contribution to the construction industry.

Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, I embarked on my construction career at the age of 16, motivated by a desire to support my skiing passion. In my 20s, I made the move to Vancouver and have since only returned to Calgary to visit family and friends. It was Vancouver’s oceans that sparked my new passion for outrigger paddling—a sport that not only releases stress and clears the mind but also keeps the body in prime condition.
